In Wharton, a mobile home was destroyed by fire last weekend. Thankfully, no lives were lost. The Wharton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the inferno at 813 Lewis after an unknown caller reported the fire. The sole occupant of the house, an unidentified 77-year-old man, heard “loud zapping and buzzing noises” from outside his bedroom. He then saw the fire. Investigation revealed that the fire was caused by a faulty transfer switch from the transformer.
