George Gamez, the new fire chief of the Victoria Fire Department, was officially sworn in at the Victoria Community Center. The ceremony, held on Monday, began with City Manager Jesús Garza welcoming Chief Gamez to Victoria. Chief Gamez brings 30 years of experience from Dallas Fire-Rescue, where he served as a driver, lieutenant, and captain. He also worked in EMS and was promoted to deputy chief in 2012, overseeing urban search and rescue, aircraft rescue, and more. During the ceremony, Gamez’s badge was pinned by his firefighter sons, George and Thomas.
