Happy 101st Birthday

East Bernard’s Beatrice Vecera Stelzel turned 101 this Saturday. Born in 1923 during the Great Depression, she’s seen a lot. During WWII, she headed to Houston to help with the war effort, inspired by Rosie the Riveter. There, she helped build ship cannons, machine guns, and welded for the war effort. After the war, she married Edwin Brod Stelzel and balanced farming with working at Texas Instruments. Today, she keeps busy with games, puzzles, and chats with family and friends. Her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids all wished her a very happy 101st birthday.
