During the last El Campo city council meeting, a new restaurant plan got approved for North Mechanic. A piece of land next to the nursing home and Dollar General will be turned into a restaurant zone instead of housing. A company called Vaquero Ventures wants to build a fast-food chain there, bringing in 18-25 jobs. But, the zoning change only happens if the restaurant actually gets built.
