Martin Lugo Jr., a 32-year-old man from Vanderbilt, was shot twice by deputies after he fired at them. Lugo was later airlifted to a hospital in Houston. Lugo, who has a criminal record and outstanding warrants, was reportedly intoxicated and armed with a rifle at the time of the shooting. No officers were injured.
