El Campo City Council has approved more license plate cameras on local roads. These cameras won’t track speed but will capture front and rear plates. Images will be compared nationwide to find stolen vehicles or wanted felons. They can also aid amber or silver alerts. El Campo PD bought eight cameras using state funds, with two already in use. The rest will be installed soon.
