A man from Palacios led police on a high-speed chase near El Campo, reaching 140 mph before a tire blew out. The driver, Matthew Ray Guevara, was arrested for evading arrest. Despite a strong marijuana odor, none was found. No one was hurt, and no other drivers reported issues. Guevara was released on a $10,000 bond the next day.
