A family in Bay City lost their home and cat in an accidental fire on Shadow Lane on Wednesday. The fire started from papers left near a running gas fireplace when the family was out. They left it on for warmth, but it led to the tragedy. The fire officials faced delays due to frozen hydrants, taking nearly two hours to control the flames. Thankfully, no one was injured.
