Planning & Zoning Request

An El Campo landowner is seeking to commercially develop her highway-fronting property. She’s approaching the Planning & Zoning officials for a zoning change from industrial to general commercial. If P&Z approves, the city council will have the final say. The property, spanning over 22 acres, is near the U.S. 59 feeder. Despite its prime location and commercial potential, it lacks utility lines. The city planner notes that the land meets all rezoning criteria and there’s interest from potential buyers due to its proximity to the Hwy. 59 corridor. The P&Z meeting, including a public hearing, is scheduled for Wednesday at City Hall.
