A grass fire in Sargent burned through 60 acres of ranch land on County Road 283. An elderly Alvin man had a medical emergency and while turning his vehicle around, he got stuck. The heat from his vehicle’s exhaust caught the field on fire. The man was transported to Matagorda Regional Medical Center for treatment. No injuries were reported from the blaze. The number of grass fires throughout the county has increased since lifting the burn ban on Oct. 9th.There have been more than 8 grass fire calls since Oct. 13th.
