Today everyone is urged to wear purple in support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It’s part of the Crisis Center’s awareness effort in Matagorda and Wharton Counties. Go Purple Day is a simple way to remember those affected by domestic violence, both adults and children. The Crisis Center provides confidential and free help to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. Last year, they provided shelter for 425 survivors and offered 6,319 nights of safety. If you need help, there’s a 24-hour Crisis Hotline at 800-451-9235.
