The award includes $11 thousand in back pay, $425 grand in compensatory damages, and $750 thousand in exemplary damages. According to Richardson’s lead counsel this is one of the biggest employment discrimination verdicts in Texas this year. While damage caps will reduce Tenaris’ payment, the $750 thousand punitive damage sends a strong message against religious discrimination. Tenaris claims Richardson’s termination was due to a safety infraction, but Richardson’s legal team disagrees.
