LCRA Urges Water Conservation

The Lower Colorado River Authority or LCRA has shifted to its second drought response stage, urging water conservation. Lakes Travis and Buchanan are at only 46% capacity, after falling below 900,000 acre-feet. LCRA asks users in Colorado, Wharton, and Matagorda counties to cut 10%-20% of water use. Responsible landscaping and indoor practices are encouraged. This follows a July 2022 Stage 1 response that halted interruptible water supply to agriculture and requested 5% reductions from firm water customers.
