Homicide Victim Identified

In a breakthrough development, a homicide victim from Colorado County dating back 47 years has been identified. DNA obtained from remains discovered in 1976 in Sheridan has been matched with DNA recently submitted by a sibling of a missing person named Isolde Deirdre Yockey. The investigation had stalled due to lack of leads, but in 2003, the remains were found to be still in possession and were transferred to the University of North Texas. Efforts to identify her through dental records and DNA databases failed until this year, when genetic genealogy methods helped establish her identity. The sheriff’s office is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the homicide.
