Bay City Man Bites Jailer

A Bay City man, Jesus Jose Torres, pleaded guilty to biting a jailer in Wharton County and has been sentenced to five years in prison. He was already in solitary confinement for drug and weapons charges due to prior misconduct. The incident happened during a routine check on June 7th, but the bite didn’t break the skin. District Attorney Dawn Allison acknowledged the challenges faced by correctional officers in managing violent and unpredictable inmates while ensuring safety. Torres also pleaded guilty to a concurrent five-year sentence for drug possession.
