Tragedy struck in downtown Richmond Tuesday as a day of celebration for Huguenot High School students turned into a nightmare. A gunman targeted an 18-year-old graduate with whom he had a long-standing dispute. The incident resulted in the deaths of two individuals, 18-year-old Shawn Jackson and Lorenzo Smith, who was Shawn’s father. Panic ensued as hundreds of people sought cover outside the Altria Theater. In addition to the fatalities, five others were injured in the shooting. The suspected gunman, identified as 19-year-old Amari Pollard from Henrico, had an ongoing dispute with the victim.
