Potential burn bans

Summer has arrived in Matagorda County, bringing scorching temperatures. The Emergency Management Office advises taking precautions: limit outdoor time, drink plenty of water, wear sunscreen and light clothing, and never leave kids or pets unattended in cars. Check on elderly neighbors without AC. Children, infants, and the elderly are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses. Rain is unlikely until next week, and the county faces a high risk of drought and potential burn bans. Use caution if burning due to dry conditions.
