Police chief fired

The police chief in Eagle Lake has been fired and stripped of his gun and badge. Allegations of covering up bad behavior in his department led to his dismissal. Former officer Christopher Cannon’s impersonation charge and a complaint filed during his time in the Eagle Lake Police Department played a significant role in the chief’s firing. Chief Abbott failed to investigate claims of Cannon’s dual marriages and submitting false documents. Other accusations include downplaying sexual harassment and neglecting background checks on hired candidates. Five out of eight officers lacked necessary documentation during Chief Abbott’s tenure.
