School for expelled students

Wharton County Chief Juvenile Probation Officer, Billie Jean Bram, is seeking permission to apply for a grant to establish a school for expelled students. The school, Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program, will be for students who have mandatory expulsions from the public school system and cannot get into online school programs. The grant will fund two retired part-time teachers, and the program will be funded by grants and some seed money from each of the four independent school districts in the county. The commissioners unanimously approved the request.
