The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Spread Oaks Ranch in Markham are hosting a four-day prescribed burning school from May 30th to June 2nd. The $200 training course includes formal training, an exam, and burn field day to become a licensed certified prescribed and insured burn manager. Breakfast and snacks will be provided by Capital Farm Credit, and lunch will be sponsored by Spread Oaks Ranch. Instructor Sandra Rideout-Hanzak, a certified senior wildland fire ecologist, will provide the formal training necessary. Existing managers can attend a one-day workshop on May 30th for $50.
