Enel North America is building a solar farm and battery storage facility near Ganado, which could provide the community with over $58 million in tax revenue and landowner income. The project is set to open in the second quarter of 2023 and will generate 208 megawatts of clean power, making it one of the largest solar projects in Texas. The battery plant on-site can store up to 83 megawatts of solar energy and will help stabilize the grid during peak energy demand. The solar farm will provide eight to ten permanent jobs.
