The City of Victoria is trying to prevent stormwater from entering the sanitary sewer system and causing overflows. To identify problems, they have hired RJN Group to conduct an inflow and infiltration study using smoke testing. This means that harmless smoke will be allowed to pass through sewer lines to locate breaks and defects. The testing will begin this week in priority areas and continue through the summer. Smoke may enter homes if the home’s private plumbing is defective or if drain traps are dry.
