The Fort Bend Independent School District may change the appearance of their buses, but it’s not for style. They’re proposing a new safety system that would use students’ ID badges to alert bus drivers if a student is boarding the wrong bus or getting off at the wrong stop. This system will not only alert bus drivers, school officials, but also parents. The district has allocated $1 million for the new system, impacting all riders, and they plan to roll out the first stage in a few months. If approved, it will be activated in phases beginning August 2023.
