Early on Friday morning, the Edna Police Department received a call about a domestic dispute involving a suicidal husband who had threatened to hurt himself and set the house on fire. The wife had left with the younger children but was worried about her son who was still in the house. An officer approached the house but was fired at and retreated with other officers. Smoke started coming from the house and the man, Jesus Villarreal, eventually came out and surrendered. His son was safe and he had only minor burns to his feet. Villarreal is facing charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Arson.
