This Saturday, volunteers will be helping with the annual spring beach cleanup along the Texas Coast, including in Matagorda County. The cleanups will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon, regardless of rain or shine, in the coastal towns of Matagorda, Sargent, and Palacios. The Texas General Land Adopt-A-Beach program has been organizing these cleanups since 1986, and since then, more than 563,000 volunteers have picked up nearly 10,000 tons of trash from Texas beaches, according to Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham.
