The 120-year history of the Luther Hotel in Palacios depends on the court’s decision on February 16th. The Ed Rachal Foundation owns the property and planned to demolish it in mid January. The demolition was postponed after protestors with the Palacios Preservation Committee reminded the Foundation that the hotel is a historic landmark. The committee believes the hotel’s history and future potential is enough to “save the Luther!” The hotel was built in 1903 and was named the Bay View Hotel. In 1905, it was moved and renamed Hotel Palacios.
