A candle light vigil was held Saturday night at Willie Bell Park for Carter and Shasta Newsome after their Saturday morning fatal car collision. What started as a social media idea, morphed into over a hundred friends, family and mourners at the Second Street park remembering the Newsome family. Carter Newsome, a seventh grade student, and her mother, Shasta, died after a car accident near Brookshire in the early morning hours on I-10 Eastbound at the FM 359 entry ramp.
