Jackson County commissiomers heard good news regarding part of the old Jackson County Jail renovation at its last meeting. The County will not have to do lead abatement, but will have to do an asbestos abatement to prepare the building for renovations that have been planned for months. Lead-based paint and asbestos have to be disposed of in accordance with OSHA standards, and that can come with a large price tag, but Judge Sklar informed commissioners what might have been a $15,000 bill will now come to $5,780 dollars.
