Ditch dedicated

Representatives from the City of Wharton and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers cut the ribbon on Nov. 9 to dedicate the completion of the Santa Fe ditch repair project. The Santa Fe ditch project is the repair of a Wharton outlet into the Colorado River. Wharton built the outfall embankment in 2013, but it was heavily damaged during Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and two large rainfall events in 2019 and 2020. The repair work started in May and was completed in October.
