El Campo pool fees are going up, but a plan to charge all swimmer escorts to enter building was shot down by city council. Pool rates for swimmers will rise from $6 to $7, a fee which will also be charged to any accompanying minors. Adult non-swimmers – a grandma bringing children to the facility but not dressed for swimming herself, for example – will still be able to enter free of charge. The goal, officials say, is to help control the number of loitering teenagers.
