What to do when burning

With all the rain that has fallen in the county lately, Jackson County Judge Jill Sklar rescinded the burn ban last week. With the ban lifted, there are still regulations residents need to follow when they do burn. ESD #3 Fire Chief Kurt Janica says if your fire crosses your fenceline, you will be civilly liable for any damages to other people’s property, or injuries that could result in outdoor burning. Burning shall not be started when
surface wind speed is predicted to be or greater than 23 mph.
