Wharton County Emergency Management addresses burn ban

The Wharton County Office of Emergency Management says the Wharton County Burn Ban has been lifted and the KBDI is back on the rise. Our County is still really dry so please be careful as some areas of the County are still extremely dry. The Burn Ban is based on an average county wide and is put in place when KBDI is above 500. Right now our County is split with a major contrast across the County. The lowest KBDI in Wharton County is 54 with the highest KBDI being at 725 with an average of 439. They say regardless of where you live in Wharton County please be extremely careful when burning during these times when areas are still dry.
