On the evening of July 24, 2022, the Bay City Police Department took four reports of catalytic converter thefts. Later during the night, Deputy Mezzino of the Brazoria County Sherriff’s Office (BCSO) stopped a vehicle on Hwy 288 for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, the Deputy discovered the driver and passengers were in possession of several catalytic converters. The Deputy discovered the individuals had been in Bay City. Deputy Mezzino contacted BCPD and discovered reports of stolen catalytic converters. Mezzino’s roadside investigation led to the arrest of the suspects.
