High Speed Pursuit for law enforcement

The Wharton County Sheriff’s Office says On 08/11/2022 shortly after 8:00 AM, a member of the Wharton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit attempted to stop a white Ford F-250 for an unsafe lane change on U. S. 59 North in the area of Hillje. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop, and a lengthy pursuit ensued. The driver of the Ford was traveling at speeds of 100 MPH+ during the pursuit. The driver exited U. S. 59 in Pierce and entered the Pierce Ranch. The driver of the Ford traveled several miles inside of the Pierce Ranch and drove through heavy brush. Deputies lost sight of the vehicle but were able to follow the vehicle tracks along the Colorado River. The vehicle was located abandoned in an area of heavy brush just north of CR 444. A lengthy search for the subjects was conducted. DPS Air 102 assisted with the search, but none of the subjects were located. The vehicle was later confirmed to be stolen out of Houston.
